The Brother HL-4050Cdnlt printer uses laser technology in churning out professional-looking color and monochrome documents. It's suitable for use with a single computer or a workgroup because of the multiple connectivity options integrated into it. With a total media capacity of up to 800 sheets and expandable memory, it can catch up with the changing productivity demands of a busy workplace with Brother HL-4050CDNLT toner.
It's installed with a processor (NEC VR5500 300 MHz) that makes it fast enough to eject the first page in a matter of 16 to 17 seconds only using toner cartridges. It has a printing speed of up to 7 pages per minute when doing color tasks and 20 pages per minute when doing monochrome ones. It has a 320MB memory that can be expanded to as large as 576MB, thanks to the SO DIMM 144-PIN memory slot available.
Media types supported include plain paper, bond paper, recycled paper, labels, envelopes and transparencies. Supported media sizes range from letter, legal, executive, A4, A5, B5 and B6. It's also capable of handling custom media sizes from as small as 69.9 mm x 116 mm to as large as 216 mm x 406.4 mm. There are three auto-load media feeders (250-sheet, 500-sheet and 50-sheet multipurpose tray) available which enable the machine to handle as many as 800 input sheets.
When producing color and monochrome printouts, up to 2400 x 600 dpi (dots per inch) resolution is used. Because of this, images end up with photo-realistic qualities and texts end up looking clean and readable. Since laser technology is used, documents end up looking professionally rendered, no matter if they're intended for home or office use.
Built-in duplex capability makes it possible to print on two sides of the paper automatically. Such feature allows for saving of time and energy as the user need not flip the pages manually. It also helps conserve paper supplies. Included language simulations are PostScript 3 and PCL 6 to take care of documents containing multiple font faces. Combined, they yield 66 scalable, 12 bitmapped, 13 barcode and 66 PostScript fonts.
Parallel IEEE 1284 and hi-speed USB 2.0 are the two ports available for hooking up the printer to a single PC. Direct printing via USB is also possible. Simply plug in a PictBridge-enabled digital camera, USB flash memory or external hard disk drive to print images and documents stored in them. Allowing the machine to be shared by a workgroup hassle-free is possible because of the integrated Ethernet 100Base-TX/1000Base-TX port.
Already included in the box are the toner cartridges. The black cartridge is capable of printing up to 2500 pages (at 5 percent coverage). On the other hand, the cyan, yellow and magenta cartridges can yield up to 1500 pages. Also included with the purchase are the transmission belt, drum and waste toner collector.
Found on the left of the top panel of the Brother HL-4050Cdnlt printer with Brother 4050CDNLT cartridges, are well-laid out buttons and status display panel for hassle-free operation. It comes with a 41.9 cm (width) x 45.2 cm (height) x 47.5 (depth) form factor, and it tips the scale at 35.7 kg while using toner cartridges. This machine is suited for installation in a busy workplace, thanks to the multiple connectivity interfaces, and large and versatile media handling capability with toner cartridge.
